Catherine Game leads Brushwood Center’s organizational strategy to advance health equity and access to the outdoors through community action, partnerships, and the arts. She is passionate about improving the health of people and nature, and activating the power of community to bridge social divides, foster inclusion, and empower change.

Prior to joining Brushwood Center, Catherine served as Director of Communications and Engagement for Chicago Wilderness where she oversaw the organization’s communications, member engagement, and strategic efforts to cultivate a diverse conservation constituency. Catherine also worked for WRD Environmental for the City of Chicago’s Department of Environment, supporting the Chicago Climate Action Plan. Catherine has held additional previous positions in communications, program evaluation, policy development, and education.

She holds a Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan focused on Behavior, Education, and Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Art from Albion College. Catherine is a past recipient of the Doris Duke Conservation Fellowship, Morris K. Udall Scholar Program, and Kinship Conservation Fellowship. She is also an artist and uses handmade, natural paints to bring visibility to urban nature. Catherine hails from the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan and loves exploring the outdoors with her husband, daughter, and courageous dog, Crux.
