10:15 am – 10:45 am Reading of Agnes Knows Nature by the author, Seth Marcus.
Agnes Knows Nature encourages children to explore the outdoors as they accompany Agnes and her mother on a nature walk. Generally intended for children 4 to 8 years old, this delightful picture book can be enjoyed by all ages. Following the read-through, Seth will be available for conversation and book signings until 12:00 PM, offering guests the chance to meet the author, ask questions, and take home a signed copy of his inspiring book.
11:00 am – 11:30 am A sample class of ¡Hola! Wiggleworms, a bilingual early childhood music program (coming back to Brushwood in January!)
This special sample class is perfect for young children (6 mos – 4 years) and their grown-ups, offering a lively introduction to bilingual music-making. Little ones will sing, move, laugh, and explore rhythm and sound through an engaging mix of Spanish and English songs led by talented Wiggleworms teaching artists.
12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – Stones that Speak: Writing Affirmations in Word & Color with Poet in Residence, Kathryn Haydon
People of all ages are invited to join Brushwood’s Poet in Residence to explore the fun and power of words, while creating an affirmation stone to set your intentions for the new year. In this inspiring hands-on session, participants will begin with a guided creative writing experience designed to spark reflection, intention, and personal expression. Then, using paint pens, you’ll bring your words to life by writing affirmations, meaningful phrases, or New Year’s resolutions onto smooth river stones— transforming simple natural objects into lasting reminders of strength, hope, and possibility.
2:15 pm – 3:00 pm Performance by Improv Playhouse’s Children’s Choir
This talented group of young singers will share a heartwarming selection of holiday favorites and spirited seasonal music, filling the gallery with energy, community spirit, and festive cheer. Their lively performance is sure to delight audiences of all ages and add a magical soundtrack to the day’s creative celebrations.
