It’s an opportunity to get creative\, try something new\, and enjoy the company of fellow art enthusiasts in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. \n\n\n\nEveryone’s project will be unique\, and creativity is highly encouraged. We will have a variety of materials available to use for your project\, but if you have something of your own you would like to bring and try to incorporate into your artwork\, you are welcome to bring it! \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary\, all skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\n\n\n\nYour favorite beverage (alcohol is allowed for those 21 +)\n\n\n\nSome snacks to enjoy as you immerse yourself in the creative process\n\n\n\nYour friends (make sure they register!)\n\n\n\nAny extra supplies you want to incorporate into your project (Optional! SUMMARY:Maternal & Environmental Health Training
DESCRIPTION:Maternal & Environmental Health Training\n\n\n\nNew! Join this six-part training to learn how the environment impacts pregnancy and gain tools\, strategies\, and resources for supporting maternal health. Designed for Community Health Workers\, the training is also open to doulas\, home visiting professionals\, caseworkers\, or community advocates. Training topics include: Air Pollution and Pregnancy Outcomes\, Pregnancy in Heat Stress and Climate Change\, Environmental Disasters and Displacement\, Chemical Exposure and Pregnancy\, and Healthy Environments for Healthy Pregnancies. \n\n\n\nThe training includes an in-person opening session (June 18th ) and an in-person closing session (July 16th)\, as indicated in the schedule below. Lunch will be provided at both sessions. Participants will complete five virtual modules during the month between sessions using the Illinois Public Health Association’s online learning platform. Participants must have access to a computer and internet to complete the virtual modules.  \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nSCHEDULE: \n\n\n\nJune 18\, 10:30 am – 1:30pm: Opening session with Dr. Regina Gomez and lunch at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods \n\n\n\nJune 19 – July 15: Complete virtual modules on your own time \n\n\n\nJuly 16\, 10:30 am – 1:30pm: Closing celebration\, certificate presentation\, and lunch at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods \n\n\n\nSpecial thanks to our partners\, Rosalind Franklin University and Illinois Public Health Association.  \n\n\n\nPlease direct any questions or accommodation requests to Angela Ramirez at aramirez@brushwoodcenter.org. Photo by Ashley Cullen-Williams\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRadical Hope in the Woods: Juneteenth Edition\n\n\n\nJoin Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods for the final gathering in our Radical Hope in the Woods series as we honor Juneteenth through reflection\, movement\, storytelling\, and collective imagination. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we will walk the trails of Ryerson Woods and explore what freedom has meant across generations—and what freedom can become. Grounded in the histories of resistance\, survival\, and joy carried by our ancestors\, this experience invites participants to reconnect with the land while reimagining Black futures through the lens of Afrofuturism\, healing\, and radical possibility. \n\n\n\nThis special gathering will also serve as a birthday celebration for the facilitator—an intentional honoring of life\, legacy\, and community. \n\n\n\nThrough guided conversation\, moments of stillness\, and community connection\, we will ask: \n\n\n\n\nWhat does freedom feel like in our bodies?\n\n\n\nWhat dreams did our ancestors carry for us?\n\n\n\nWhat future are we brave enough to imagine together?\n\n\n\n\nThis is more than a walk.It is a remembering.A reclaiming.A celebration of life. A collective act of hope. \n\n\n\n All are welcome to gather\, reflect\, and dream forward in community. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nRadical Hope in the Woods is supported by Healing Illinois.
