DESCRIPTION:Art Impact Project\n\n\n\nArt Impact Project facilitates supportive art projects designed to provide participants a different way to express themselves through art-making.  With a focus on emotional wellness through creative expression\, Art Impact Project’s small-group environment gives participants the chance to self-reflect and safely share their observations.  Each 90-minute session involves the completion of an art project from start to finish.  Projects will vary from week to week\, exploring various art media and objectives. \n\n\n\nParking is available outside of the building. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and We Serve: Special Recreation Association for Central Lake County to create and perform their very own musical compositions. Using resources from Brushwood Center’s At Ease and Art Supply Exchange programs\, Veterans participate in a six-week graphic score and poetry composition residency culminating in the creation of 20 original pieces of music performed and recorded by professional musicians.Black Moon Trio is honored to again be joined by world-renowned botanical artist\, Heeyoung Kim and members of her Botanical Art Academy to showcase watercolor painting methods and techniques. Poet and creativity expert Kathryn Haydon also joins the team as her collection of poetry\, Unsalted Blue Sunrise: Poems of Lake Michigan\, provides the thematic framework for Veterans to compose works about their connections to our freshwater treasure as well as their connections to each other.This program has been generously funded by the National Endowment for the Arts’ Creative Forces initiative. \n\n\n\n\nregister

SUMMARY:Singularity is a Forest Reception
DESCRIPTION:Singularity is a Forest Reception\n\n\n\nJoin us on Saturday\, January 25th to explore Singularity is a Forest at a reception and program at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods. \n\n\n\nSingularity is a Forest is an exhibition of photography and poetry by Mexico City artist Álvaro Alejandro López. \n\n\n\nHe describes his series: “In our different languages the trees are mainly a generic symbol. However\, if we contemplate them closely\, we will find in them the diverse and the singular.This series is an aesthetic approach to the features and scars that give life to the individuality of each tree.” \n\n\n\nThe reception will feature a forest bathing experience with Jess Rodriguez of Reciprocal Forest Bathing at 1:00 pm. This will take place outdoors\, please dress for the weather.  At 2:00 pm\, Kim Shearer of Morton Arboretum will lead a walk-through of the exhibition\, sharing her expertise on the science of trees.  \n\n\n\n\nRegister for the reception\n\n\n\n\nPresenters\n\n\n\n\nKim Shearer\n\n\n\nKim is the Curator of Collections and Manager of New Plant Development at the Morton Arboretum. Kim advances the Arboretum’s mission to make the world a greener\, healthier\, and more beautiful place by introducing plant selections with broad adaptability\, disease resistance\, and pest resistance. She is an expert on trees and shrubs.  \n\n\n\n\n\nJess Rodriguez\n\n\n\nJess Rodriguez is a certified forest bathing guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Bathing. Jessica was introduced to forest bathing in 2019 while interning in Costa Rica with a certified guide. Together\, they worked on a proposal to have forest bathing recognized as an official nature wellness practice by the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT).  \n\n\n\nIn 2021\, Jessica underwent a six month long training and four day intensive\, during which they developed a true sense of what it means to be a guide and work in partnership with the more-than-human-world. Jess is also the Coalition Building Manager at Brushwood Center.

Children and their families delight in the musical play of Wiggleworms while they explore the Spanish language and experience the joy of learning language through music. \n\n\n\nAs your little one grows\, together you’ll learn our core songs—a beautiful collection of traditional and contemporary sing-along songs. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and We Serve: Special Recreation Association for Central Lake County to create and perform their very own musical compositions. Using resources from Brushwood Center’s At Ease and Art Supply Exchange programs\, Veterans participate in a six-week graphic score and poetry composition residency culminating in the creation of 20 original pieces of music performed and recorded by professional musicians.Black Moon Trio is honored to again be joined by world-renowned botanical artist\, Heeyoung Kim and members of her Botanical Art Academy to showcase watercolor painting methods and techniques. Poet and creativity expert Kathryn Haydon also joins the team as her collection of poetry\, Unsalted Blue Sunrise: Poems of Lake Michigan\, provides the thematic framework for Veterans to compose works about their connections to our freshwater treasure as well as their connections to each other.This program has been generously funded by the National Endowment for the Arts’ Creative Forces initiative. \n\n\n\n\nregister
