Illinois Young Birders Symposium

Saturday, August 26

7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

In conjunction with Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods, Illinois Young Birders is excited to announce their second annual Young Birder Symposium on Saturday, August 26th. Join us for a day of birding, presentations by young birders and professionals, and art at Brushwood Center. In the coming weeks, young birders will have the opportunity to submit proposals to present at the Symposium as well as display their own art at Brushwood Center.

Keynote Speaker: Jen Brumfeld

Jen eagerly combines her passions for extreme birding, field studies, outdoor education and detailed scientific illustration into a truly "wild" career. She passionately offers thrilling public and school programs park-wide. Since 2005 she's written and illustrated seven field guides to the flora and fauna of Cleveland Metroparks. She composed over 100 dragonfly and damselfly illustrations for the second edition of The Dragonflies and Damselflies of Northeast Ohio. As a young birder, she participated in American Birding Association young birder programs and was named ABA Young Birder of the Year in 1998.

Registration:

$20 for children and adults accompanying children. $40 for unaccompanied adults (includes a $20 donation to the scholarship fund). Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. In the coming weeks, ILYB members will have the opportunity to submit proposals to present at the Symposium as well as display their own bird artwork at the Brushwood Center.
