7 - 9 pm
Brushwood Center is partnering with Art Night to create a three part series focused on making connections and sharing our passions.
Art Night is an event that celebrates unique talents and interests. Attendees can choose to share/present for a short block of time on any interest (music, poetry, urban planning, juggling, your favorite sweaters your favorite book etc) that they are passionate about. It’s not about how skilled the attendees are at their passion, but rather, it’s about their passion itself. Whether you have toured the world in a famous band, or it’s your first time singing in public, at Art Night, everyone and everything is valued equally. What matters most is the sharers’ love for what they are sharing.
Come to present, or come to support, enjoy, and meet new friends!
Each event will also feature an opening icebreaker and activity (featuring supplies from BASE!) and an engaging discussion on contemporary social themes. Attendees are encouraged to bring nut-free food to share.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
Jared Hochberg plays and leads music workshops throughout the city of Chicago, and teaches private saxophone, clarinet, and Irish Tin Whistle lessons. He is a ‘17 graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he began hosting Art Nights as a way to connect musicians across degree programs through musical presentations and performances.
Rob Klein is a 2018 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied agricultural leadership education. On campus, he began hosting Art Nights after being inspired by what Jared created at Oberlin. When Rob moved back to Chicagoland, he began his collaboration with Jared. He teaches music in the surrounding areas and is actively involved in the Chicago ukulele scene. Rob believes in the power of creative expression to cultivate authentic and intentional community.
